Little Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church of Huntsville, Alabama, is a church “striving to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ that we might reach the lost, teach the saved, and make strong disciples for Christ.”  But how did our journey of faith, praise and service begin?  Our history unfolds revealing saints of old who passed the torch down through years and who paved the way for our church as we stand today with uplifted hands and gives glory, honor and praise to God.
Organized in the year of our Lord 1907, under the guidance of God Almighty and the leadership of a few true believers, Little Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church was formed.  The first service was held under a maple tree and it was at that point that the ministers, deacons, and mothers agreed to build a house of worship.  The property for the building was donated by The Late Deacon Silias Turner located at 983 Indian Creek Road.  The servants involved as church founders were the late Reverends:  Eli Crutcher, Henry Crutcher, and Robert Leslie.  The late founding deacons were:  Fred Garner, Henry Malone, Joe Tibbs, Silias Turner, and perhaps others.  The late founding mothers were:  Rosie Cartwright, Pinkie Erskine Clark, Hester Hammonds, Jim Littles, Eda Tibbs, and Kate Watkins.  The Late Evelyn Turner Binford was the secretary at the time.  A lovely small frame structure was constructed for the edifying of God’s Word.  The Late Reverend Leslie served as overseer of the church the first two years and in 1909, The Late Reverend Henry Crutcher served as first pastor until 1916.
In 1916, The Late Reverend Eli Crutcher was chosen as second pastor. He served faithfully until his passing in July 1933.  Many were baptized and other deacons and mothers were installed.  The late deacons were:  Albert Clark, Billy Langford, Eulas Pickett, Carey Pettus, Earnest Slay and Frank Slay.  The Late Georgia Anna Tibbs O’Neal was the church secretary until she relocated.  After Sister O’Neal moved, Mother Druella McCaulley was chosen secretary of the church.  She served faithfully until 1955 and retired as her health declined. In August 1933, a young minister Reverend Mark Betts was chosen third pastor of Little Indian Creek.
In August 1933, a young minister Reverend Mark Betts was chosen third pastor of Little Indian Creek.  He served faithfully, patiently and loyally.  In the early 1950’s, the frame structure of the church began decaying.  Under the leadership of Reverend Mark Betts and others, it was decided to build a block structure and the building was constructed and finished in 1955.  The new sanctuary was dedicated in April 1955 while Reverend Mark Betts was pastor.  As time progressed, the church continued to grow and many members joined.  The leadership also continued to grow and other deacons and mothers were installed.
