The deacons were: George Betts, The Late Johnny Betts, Willie Booker Jr., The Late Emmett Cartwright, Reverend Dr. Jerry L. Crutcher, The Late Reverend Sammie Crutcher, The Late James Hammonds, Reverend Jesse L. Hughes, Johnny Jones Jr., and The Late Oscar Townsend. The mothers were: The Late Dora Betts, The Late Anna Burks, The Late Della Cartwright, The Late Pearl Cartwright, The Late Ada Crutcher, The Late Mae Etta Fletcher, The Late Druella McCaulley, Carrie Minor, The Late Georgia O’Neal, and The Late Clara Townsend. In 1968, Reverend Mark Betts’ health began to fail him and Reverend James Houston was asked to come and assist. In 1971, Reverend Mark Betts retired and Reverend James Houston became the fourth pastor of Little Indian Creek.
God continued to bless us under the guidance of Reverend James Houston. Many more were baptized and we continued to grow in faith. The growth of the church created the need for yet another sanctuary and Reverend James Houston along with the deacons began planning a new edifice. Reverend James Houston was unable to see this building completed due to God calling him home from labor to rest in 1974. But Little Indian Creek was not left without a shepherd.
In 1975, our Heavenly Father blessed us with our current Pastor of thirty-four years, Reverend Dr. Jerry L. Crutcher, a spirit-filled shepherd who rightly divides the word of truth. Under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Jerry L. Crutcher we are still being blessed with God as his guide. Just as in Acts 2:47, “the Lord is still adding daily to the church such as should be saved.” Under his leadership several functional organizations have been formed which include: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Baptist Training Union, New Members Class, Brotherhood, Sister’s Aide, Usher Board, Youth Department, and Outreach Ministries. With God as our leader the church body saw a need for a new sanctuary and we began drawing up plans in 1986. A site was selected at 884 Indian Creek Road which is our current location. The building permit was purchased and ground breaking services were held on February 17, 1988 for the third building. Early in 1997, Reverend Crutcher revealed to the body a vision from God to construct a Family Life Center to better serve the various ministries of the church. The Family Life Center was dedicated on April 25, 1999.
